Hachiman is a loner with no close friends and is a social outcast. The only person he is close with is his younger sister Komachi. Throughout the series he learns to be more social and develops good relationships with classmates and peers. Hachiman has an annoyed but loving view of his parents. He thinks their relationship is good, but is bitter because he believes Komachi gets treated much better than he does as she is the "favourite" child. Both of Hachiman's parents are unnamed and are corporate workers.
